Rolynn Wilson
Anchor/Reporter
Rolynn Wilson is an Anchor/Investigative Reporter at WRIC-ABC8 in Richmond, VA. When Central Virginians feel they were deceived by scammers, forgotten by local leaders, or done wrong by shady businesses, that’s when Rolynn steps in. Her reporting moved the wheels of local government to fix property tax errors, prompting businesses like Xfinity and Verizon to resolve account issues, and helped recover nearly $400,000 for Central Virginians.

She is known for her ability to produce enterprise stories with compelling sound and exclusive interviews. That is how she got a 1-on-1 with a convicted high school graduation murderer and, with the help of her team, uncovered that the Richmond leaders failed to follow state real estate tax law, costing the city $32 million. The Associated Press recognized her for her breaking news coverage of protests at Virginia Commonwealth University following the war in Gaza.
Long before Rolynn started reporting on the local issues in Richmond, her love for journalism began at an early age when she would pick up the Tampa Bay Times Newspaper from her driveway for her mother. What seemed like a simple task at the time quickly became a bonding activity between the two, either reading the headlines together or watching reporters in her hometown of St. Petersburg, Florida.

Her interest in journalism continued in Tampa, where Rolynn attended the University of South Florida, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts and Sciences degree in Mass Communications with a concentration in Broadcast News. During her time in school, she worked at WFTS-ABC as a production assistant and interned for the TODAY Show in New York and WTVT-FOX in Tampa.
Since graduating and joining WRIC-ABC8 as a reporter, Rolynn has was promoted to Weekend Evening Anchor and has taken a lead role as an investigative reporter for the station’s Taking Action Investigates Brand.
Rolynn understands the future of journalism is growing and works every day to meet viewers where they are. Her work can be seen on air, online, and on multiple digital platforms like Instagram, Facebook, and WRIC podcasts.
She is a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc, and the National Association of Black Journalists.
Outside of the newsroom, you can find Rolynn exploring on foot as she is an avid runner and recently completed her second half-marathon.
