Hired at KSDK
Our first glance at Mike Rush gave us pause. You don't see reporters like Mike every day. There was no standing in front of a building. There was no static, dead standup. What we saw and what the audience in Mobile sees on a regular basis was a reporter rowing down a flooded street, towing a car, and peering out from a ceiling tile. We all saw a journalist activated by the story and his surroundings. He takes you there and gives you the feeling you're with him every step of the way.
Mike is currently a lead reporter and fill-in anchor at KSDK in St. Louis. He started in January of 2011 and has proved to be a valuable asset both in the field and on the desk. Mike's energy and enthusiasm carry over in his anchoring, where he's more than a talking head. While he certainly has command of the desk, viewers tell him all the time how much they appreciate his quick wit and easy manner.
Along his path, Mike has been honored with a number of awards. He's traveled to both coasts to receive national recognition for his expose' on hog and dog fighting. Most rewarding was that the series led to laws in several states, including Alabama, banning the brutal blood sport. Mike's also been named best reporter on a state and local level, received an Edward R. Murrow Award and has been nominated for an Emmy.
